General guidelines for uploading images
The easiest way is to directly upload a final version of your image in Spotler Mail+. Although you can still make edits in the built-in editor, it’s more efficient to do this beforehand.
Note: extremely large files, such as images that are 5000px wide, are not accepted. These files are too heavy for emails and can cause issues with sending or displaying them.
Choosing the right file type
Each file type serves a different purpose.
-
JPEG (JPG)
Use this file type for your standard images in mailings. -
PNG
Use PNG for sharp visuals, such as logos, icons, and images with transparency. -
GIF
Suitable for animated images within your mailing.
Keeping file sizes small
Keep your emails lightweight by following these tips:
- Preferably keep each image under 100KB
- Optimize images for web use before uploading them
Note
Gmail clips emails larger than 102KB. This limit applies to the HTML code of your mailing, but images with long names can indirectly contribute to exceeding this threshold.
Matching dimensions to your email layout
To avoid blurry images and ensure the best display, both on desktop and mobile:
- Upload images at double the width of their final display size in the email
- When in doubt, use a width of 1000px, which is a safe standard for most templates
- Example: a full-width banner in an email of 600px wide should be between 1000–1200px
Why this is important
By following these guidelines you will:
- Make your email load faster
- Increase the chance of successful inbox delivery
- Ensure a consistent appearance on every device and in every email client
