Overview of link types
| Link type | What does this link do? | When do you use it? |
| Link to a landing page in Spotler | Links to a page created within Mail+. | Use this link when you want to direct users to an internal landing page. |
| Anchor link | Links to a specific position within a message or web page and jumps directly to that location. | Use this link to refer to a specific paragraph or heading, for example in a table of contents. |
| Email link | Opens an email program with a new message. | Use this link when you want a reader to send an email directly. Behavior may vary per email client. |

| External link with tracking | Links to an external web page and measures click behavior in reports. | Use this link when you want insight into clicks and link performance in your mailing. |
| Special link | Adds a functional link specific to email messages. | Use this link for required or functional elements such as an unsubscribe link or online version link. You can also add a print version that opens in the browser. |
When do you use tracking on links?
Tracking allows you to measure how often a link is clicked.
Do not use tracking on visible URLs
If you make a fully written URL—such as www.spotler.com—trackable, code is added to the URL. This means the destination no longer exactly matches the visible link, which can be considered unreliable. Always use a link without tracking for visible URLs.
What is a conversion link?
A conversion link is a measurable link used to register traffic to a website as a conversion.
The Conversion link option is enabled by default for external links with tracking, links to Spotler pages, and document links.
Not every measurable link is a conversion link. An unsubscribe link, for example, is tracked but does not count as a conversion.
How do you make links recognizable in reports?
Each link can be given a name that is used in reports.
Use clear link names
Assign each link a unique and descriptive name. For example, indicate whether it is a text link, image link, or title link.
How does Web Analytics work?
With Web Analytics, you add tracking parameters to links for external analytics tools.
In the Web analytics tab, you can view configured values such as source, name, and content. These can be set centrally and supplemented with a specific campaign name per link.
What is the result of correct link usage?
By selecting the correct link type and applying tracking properly, you direct readers to the right destination and collect reliable data for analysis.
