How does the ideas forum work?

The Ideas Forum in Spotler Mail+ lets you submit suggestions, vote on improvements, and discuss ideas that help shape the software.

On this page you have the following options:

You can search or filter existing ideas in three different ways:

1. Keyword search

Enter keywords into the search field. Matching ideas will appear automatically as you type.

2. Filter by status

Use the Status filter to view ideas by their development phase.

Status types:

  • Needs review – All ideas start with this status. If an idea enters the Top 20, Spotler will evaluate its feasibility and potential timeline. The person who submitted the idea receives a confirmation email.
  • Planned – Popular and feasible ideas are planned for release within two months. You’ll receive a confirmation email when your idea reaches this stage.
  • Released – Once implemented, ideas become available for all Spotler users. You can filter on this status to view completed improvements.
  • Research – These are bigger innovations that may require more time to implement and are being evaluated for fit and scope.
  • Will not do – These ideas don’t match the product vision or current roadmap and won't be developed further.

3. Filter by category

Ideas are grouped into functional categories, such as editors or forms. Subcategories allow more specific filtering, for example by individual email editors.

Submit a new idea

As you type your idea, the software automatically checks for similar existing ideas. If your idea already exists, vote for it instead to strengthen its visibility and support.

You can also manually check for existing ideas using keyword search, status filters or category filters. Learn more under Filter and search existing ideas.

How to submit a new idea:

  1. Click the yellow New idea button at the top-right of the forum homepage.
  2. A window opens where you can enter a title, description, and select a category.

Tips for submitting a good idea:

  • Clear title – Use concise and specific keywords. Avoid generic phrases like “I would like…”
  • Choose a category – Selecting the right category helps others find and vote for your idea.
  • Motivation – Use the description field to explain why this improvement is valuable and how it would be used in Spotler Mail+.
  • Submit one improvement at a time – Avoid bundling multiple suggestions into a single idea to ensure clarity and feasibility.

After submitting, your idea is visible under the Recent tab and automatically receives your vote.

View your ideas: Open the My ideas section in the left-hand menu to view your submissions.

Vote for an idea or remove your vote

Support ideas by voting for them. You have an unlimited number of votes, but only one vote per idea.

Ways to vote:

  • From the dashboard – Hover over an idea in the top 5 and click to vote.
  • In the Ideas Forum – Open any idea and click the Vote button. It will then turn into a Voted button.

To remove your vote: Click the Voted button again.

Follow an idea: Use the Subscribe button to get updates on an idea’s progress without voting.

You can find your subscriptions, ideas and voting history under My subscriptions.

Give or receive feedback on ideas

Sharing your thoughts helps prioritize ideas and improve clarity. You can comment on any idea, whether it be your own or someone else’s.

To comment: Use the input field at the bottom of the idea and click the yellow Post comment button.

To delete your comment: Click Delete in the lower-right corner of your posted comment.

Spotler responses: Official responses from Spotler are shown at the top of the idea with a green background and marked as Admin response.
