You are currently in step 2 Define your target audience of the Get started checklist. To send a newsletter that truly reaches the right people, you first need to define your target audience. This starts with importing your contacts and creating a dynamic list in Spotler Mail+. A dynamic list ensures flexibility and accuracy, so your newsletter always matches the right audience.
Define your target group
Before sending your first newsletter, reflect on who should receive it. Make sure your list is checked for these points:
Do you want to include everyone, or focus on a segment for whom this newsletter is especially valuable? Remove contacts for whom the content is clearly not relevant to keep your message targeted.
- Start broad, then apply simple filters (e.g., recent activity, interest, region).
- Document why certain contacts are excluded to keep criteria consistent later.
- Avoid over-segmentation; keep criteria simple for the first newsletter.
Has every email address explicitly consented to receive your newsletters? Make sure your audience meets opt-in requirements.
- Filter on confirmed opt-in or subscription status.
- Exclude contacts with withdrawn consent or complaints to protect deliverability.
Are all email addresses valid and up to date? Clean lists reduce bounces and safeguard your sender reputation.
- Check for syntax errors and obvious typos (e.g., gamil.com).
- Exclude stale addresses that have not engaged for a long period.
Step 1 Import your contacts
If your account does not yet contain any contacts, start by importing a file. This file must meet a few requirements, such as including an opt-in field. Mailings can only be sent to recipients who have explicitly opted in. Before importing, make sure every value in your file has a corresponding database field in Spotler Mail+.
⏩ Skip if ready
If your account already contains a usable contact list, you can skip this step and move directly to creating a dynamic list.

Step 2 Create a dynamic list
Now that your contacts are available in Spotler Mail+, you can build a dynamic list. Dynamic lists automatically update based on the filters and criteria you define, such as permissions, region, or interests. This ensures your newsletter reaches the right audience with the right message.
⏩ Skip if ready
If a colleague has already created a dynamic list suitable for your newsletter, you can use that one and continue with the message setup.
